this morning on the kron 4 morning news. a house fire in the east bay destroys at least one home and damages two others. making it the 4th fire within 24 hours-- taking a toll on firrefighters and crimes on the rise in one san francisco district-- pushing some residents out of the area. the kron 4 morning news

a pedestrian is dead after being hit by a light rail in san jose sunday night. authorities say the light rail hit the pedestrian at the intersection of southwest expressway and stokes street near bascom station. authorities say the person ran in front of the train. the cause of the collision remains under investigation and the identity of the deceased person has not yet been released. four fires in 24 hours. and the last fire burns a home to the ground. that's the reality of the under staffed fire crews of contra costa county. kron 4's philippe djegal spoke to fire officials now expecting the worst.

those living in san francisco's hayes neighborhood say they have been plagued with more crime recently. residents say they have gotten their phones stolen and their car and apartment windows broken. "no trespassing" signs and

24-year-old montgomery tsang died saturday morning after he was taken to a hosptial. his cause of death hasn't been announced. tsang's family hasn't issued a statement and is not talking to the media at

a teenage boy shot and killed at a party in the north bay over the weekend. this morning, police are looking for the gunman. the shooting happened shortly after midnight yesterday. outside a home on windsor avenue. north of

the sonoma county airport. when officers arrived, they found a 15 year old boy shot in the chest. he died at the hospital. another teenager and two adults were also shot. they're expected to survive. witnesses say they saw the suspect get away in a blue nissan compact car. a woman was driving. and there were possibly two other passengers in the vehicle.

a san francisco man is recovering after his rowboat capsized during a race off of california's

central coast sunday morning. crews were able to locate the man about 52- miles west of morro bay just after six in the morning. the rower had been participating in the great pacific race-- which is a 24-hundred mile rowing competition from monterey to hawaii. the rower was in stable condition. he was lifted into a helicopter and flown to emergency medical crews waiting at the monterey regional airport.

the man is recovering and is expected to survive. and that rescue comes after the coast guard rescued another four other rowers from the same race saturday morning as well. take a look at this video of the helicopter rescue. officials received a distress call late friday evening into saturday about

a rowboat that was sinking. crews were able to locate the rowers around one in the morning about 75 miles west of san luis obispo. all four of the rowers are in good condition. the new owners of the maverick's surf contest are making some changes to the big wave competition.

francisco. the waves often exceed 30- feet during the competition take a look at this video. taken just moments before a tornado touched down in colorado. in a town northeast of denver. some residents thought it was a dust devil at first and that it came out of nowhere. but they soon realized it was a tornado. with debris being picked up and thrown a half a mile away. a farmer was almost killed when the tornado hit his home. he just had seconds to find a safe place to hide. no one was seriously injured in northern texas. heavy rains flooded streets and

neighborhoods. this is video out of granbury, southwest of fort worth. more than a dozen residents were forced to leave their homes. backyards and lawns turned into what looked like riverfront property. a school parking lot was flooded with more than six inches of rain. but there is good news this morning. the chance for more rain in granbury today

establish one. she says her bill would ease the burden of registering. also, she says this would save states millions of dollars by allowing voters to file their information electronically. and if you're called out for jury duty watch out, lawyers *now have permission to scan social media sites of jurors. the american bar association says it's ethical for lawyers to look at public profiles of those who are called in for jury duty. however, the association does warn lawyers against actively following or friending jurors. this is the first time the a-b-a has addressed how deeply attorneys and their consultants can probe for information about jurors. a preliminary hearing is set for this afternoon in

the battle over ownership of the los angeles clippers. donald sterling is fighting his estranged wife shelly sterling in a family trust probate case. shelly sterling entered an agreement to sell the n-b-a team to former microsoft c- e-o steve ballmer for two billion dollars. all this came after donald sterling's racially-charged comments led to a lifetime ban by the league. donald sterling's attorneys have promised to fight the ban and proposed sale. an official report will be released today -- reviewing how state government officials handled the jerry sandusky child rape scandal.

a former federal prosecutor conducted an independent inquiry into the prosecution by former pennsylvania a-g tom corbett, who is now governor. the report will address concerns over corbett's conduct when allegations against sandusky came to light in 2009, and whether politics played a role -- as corbett was planning a run for governor at the time. sandusky was convicted in 2009 of raping children while he was an assistant football coach at penn state, working under legendary coach joe paterno. the san francisco police department will participate in the special olympics torch

run. the run will kick off at 9:00 in union square later this morning. police chief greg suhr will begin the run with the torch. the 8-mile run will proceed to the downtown area, the embarcadero, and fisherman's wharf, concluding on union street. a three year old girl out of mississippi who was asked to leave a k-f-c restaurant because of her facial scars is now getting help from a plastic surgeon. victoria wilcher lost her right eye, and suffered a broken jaw, broken ribs and several puncture wounds. when she was attacked by three pit bulls in april. the girl and her grandmother were asked to leave the restaurant because her appearance was scaring other customers. victoria's family went on social media to express their outrage. they say she was discriminated over her looks. the dr. saw the story and

is now offering his services to her for free. he says he's not the only one pitching in to help. the plan is to get victoria to florida for a new eye within the next week or so. the dr. says he'll likely perform cosmetic surgery on her down the line. the search for a prominent outdoors writer on mount rainier gone missing in washington state has been suspended after a body was found saturday in mount rainier national park. officials say karen sykes hiked ahead of her boyfriend on wednesday on a snow covered-trail. sykes' boyfriend says he reported her missing that night. officials say the 70-year- old was equipped with survival gear for one night. the body was found in rough, steep terrain. the cause of death has not been determined and officials are working to confirm the identity. sykes was a well-known hiker, author and blogger who was reportedly working on a story. take a look at this.

in texas, a father and his daughter take the law into their own hands. by going on this wild and dangerous chase! tim wetzel has the story of what prompted the action.and the dramatic footage they captured. in san francsico, an inmate who eluded capture for over a week was back in custody and back in court on last week timothy midgett escaped on the evening of june seventh whiles taking out the trash at the hall of justice on bryant street. a tipster reported that midgett was at a homeless shelther on fifth street. that's were deputies found him on tuesday. he was taken into custody and is now being held without bond. had he not escaped, midgett would have been released next month. a richmond man was arested for vehicle theft
